Ride To End Suicide

Are you ready to ride for a life-saving cause? Join us for the Center of Suicide Awareness Ride to End Suicide! Each year, twice as many loved ones and friends die by suicide than by homicide. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 54. One life lost by suicide is one too many. The Ride to End Suicide event spreads awareness, prevention, and hope throughout our communities and focuses on eliminating the negative stigma associated with suicide. All proceeds go directly back into continuing our suicide prevention, public awareness and education efforts and openly discussing the issue of suicide without fear of stigma. How to Participate: • All types of riders are encouraged to participate – motorcyclists, cars, street legal vehicles. • Simply pick-up a POKER RUN SPONSORSHIP BOOKLET by calling the Center for Suicide Awareness at 920-475-4748 (one per participant), visit as many of the sponsors as possible, and receive a stamp in the booklet verifying your patronage. Once you have 20 stamps, you qualify to participate in the POKER RUN Game (21 yrs. of age or older).

Walk for Suicide Awareness - Taking Strides to End Suicide

The Walk for Suicide Awareness is an annual event that brings together individuals, families, and organizations from across the state. Many of the hundreds that participate each year have been affected in some way by the tragedy of suicide or desire to offer support and bring awareness.
This event is held in September during National Suicide Prevention Month.

Empty Shoes Memorial

The impact of suicide in the state of Wisconsin is severe and its' tragic effects reach deep within our communities. The Empty Shoes Memorial serves to reflect on the impact of suicide throughout our state and bring further awareness to the importance we must place on efforts specifically aimed at reducing the number of suicides in Wisconsin. Each year the steps of Wisconsin’s state capital are lined with pairs of empty shoes and combat boots reflecting the number of loved ones who died by suicide the prior year. This event serves as both a memorial to those who lost their lives to the tragedy of suicide as well as a visually impactful reminder that state leadership must continue to support and fund suicide prevention efforts across Wisconsin.
